Slip dress

¿Qué es un slip dress?  Creo que todas tenemos la idea de lo que es y lo ubicamos cuando lo escuchamos; la realidad es que el slip dress era la forma que tenía la ropa íntima tras cambiar los corsets por telas cómodas y fluidas, pero no fue hasta a principios de los 70 que se empezó a usar como prenda exterior. El concepto era exponer la ropa íntima (la que se ponían debajo de la ropa o para dormir), aunque, su verdadero momento triunfal fue en los años 90, cuando actrices y supermodelos lo empezaron a usar en los eventos. Recordemos que como era “ropa íntima” esta prenda viene mayoritariamente en seda y los tirantes de espagueti.

What’s a slip dress? I think we all have an idea of what it is and we identify it when we hear about it; truth is that the slip dress was the shape that had the underwear when women changed corset for fluid and comfortable fabrics, but it was not until the early 70’ that began to be used as outerwear. The concept was to expose the underwear (the one they used under the clothes or to sleep), but the real big moment was until the 90’s when models and actresses started to wear it at events. Remember that as it was “underwear” this garment comes mostly in silk fabric and spaghetti straps.

Agradeciendo otra vez a la versatilidad de la moda, ahora el slip dress puede venir en diferentes confecciones, largos, encajes, estampados, etc., y podemos usarlos durante todo el año, incluso en invierno con un gran abrigo o jugando con las capas.

Pero entonces, esta moda de mostrar la ropa interior es algo que seguimos tratando de explotar, ¿no les recuerda a los bralettes? estos hermosos tops que son tan lindos que son hechos para enseñarlos, o las faldas transparentes con las que te pones tu calzón de talle alto y todos lo ven, o para las más atrevidas un vestido de encaje y puedes o no mostrar tu ropa interior. Es algo con lo que la moda siempre ha jugado, “underwear as outerwear” sin esconder nada y con la posibilidad de jugar con todo.

El color de este slip dress me encanta, es muy fácil de usar. Decidí que no podía dejar de usarlo aún con el frío así que lo combiné con una blusa de manga larga y cuello de tortuga. Con los accesorios decidí agregar un gran collar para quitarle lo minimalista al look.

I love the color of this slip dress; I think it’s so easy to wear. I decided that I could not stop wearing it even in the cold weather, so I matched it with a turtleneck top, and I added a big necklace to take away the minimalist look.
